Wow…our city is really moving up in the world! I have lived in the north Thornton area for 25 years and am amazed at the economic development in progress in our community. Although I am not excited about the increased traffic, it is nice to have more options up north for shopping and dining!
Work is currently underway on the future site of the Denver Premium Outlets at 136th and I-25. Expected to open in the fall of 2018, DPO will feature 80 retail shops and restaurants. Two of my favorite things…shopping and eating at fun places with friends and family!
The first Amazon robots are also moving into Thornton! Expected to open in August of 2018, Amazon’s 3rd facility in Colorado will hire 1,500 full-time employees. This new fulfillment center on the northeast corner of I-25 and 144th across from The Grove Shopping Center will enable Amazon to hold 50% more inventory than a similar building without robotics capabilities.

Now for the fun part…FOOD! There are some fun new places I like at the Orchard Town Center. My favorite is the Rusty Bucket. The Rusty Bucket has a great atmosphere and a fun patio. We come here frequently for happy hour with friends. Happy hour is Monday – Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and includes 1/2 price appetizers and pizza as well as $1 off beer, wine and cocktails.
If you love wine, check out Bitto Bistro Wine and Cheese. They have a huge wine selection and have frequent live music, events, and tastings. Happy hour is Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Bitto Bistro is a quaint little place with a wonderful ambiance.
Like Italian food? You can’t miss Asti d’italia. My favorite dish is the Penne Carbonara. Delicious! Whether a romantic date night or evening out with friends, this is a nice place to dine and enjoy a beverage. Asti d’Italia also has happy hour from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
